The Bell House is one of the most attractive small hotels in the West Country. The original house is over 500 years old and stands in delightful English gardens. It was once a private house and when England was under the influence of Cromwell, who banned all church services and confiscated all church bells. The people of Sutton Benger took the bell from the church opposite the hotel and kept it here where it was rung for any services that were being held. Which is how the Bell House gained its name.
